Kappad beach holds great historical significance and is known due to the fact that Vasco Da Gama, one of the greatest explorers of the world, was the first one to set his foot on the land of Kappad Beach on his journey throughout the world. Vasco Da Gama visited Kappad Beach in 1498 AD. A stone monument has been erected on the Kappad Beach to honor this significant historical event, marking his arrival here.
