Location: The Crocodile Sanctuary is situated at a distance of 9 km from the city of Lucknow. This sanctuary, which is located in the suburbs of the city at Kukrail Reserve Forest, attracts tourists and wildlife enthusiasts all around the year.
Description: Established in the year 1978, Crocodile Sanctuary was developed for raising the newly born crocodiles. At this place crocodiles or ghariyals are raised in their natural habitat from eggs till they become adults. Of all the crocodilians, ghariyals are the longest living creatures. Newly born crocodiles are collected from the nearby river and are further raised here. Once able to fend for themselves, these crocodiles are shifted to Chambal Rivers, where they can experience real life. This sanctuary also houses various other species of animals, such as sambar deer, spotted deer and black buck. This park has something for everybody, as it houses a cafeteria, children’s park and a resting room also.
Activities: This Crocodile Sanctuary is a must visit place for nature lovers. Besides visiting this, a trip to the nearby market can be planned which sell an amazing variety of items. Lal Bagh market or the Halwasiya market can be visited to shop for hand embroidered clothes, which are regarded as a specialty of this region.
