Description: The construction of Vidhan Sabha Bhawan, an alternate name for the Council House, was started in 1922 and its foundation stone was laid by Sir Harcourt Butler. With a budget of 18 lakhs, it took 6 years for the structure to get completed. This building was built with the help of Mirzapur sandstone. The interiors as well as the exteriors of the monument are beautifully crafted. The domed roof structure is octagonal in shape and houses an auditorium, finely decorated with the carvings of peacock, the national bird. People who have keen interest in history and ancient structures must visit this monument while in Lucknow. The exquisitely designed architecture of the Council House adds to the beauty of the building.
