Description: Well known as Hussainbad Imambara, Chota Imambara was constructed as a prayer hall for the Shia Muslims. In the year 1838, the third Nawab of Awadh, Muhammad Ali Shah, built this structure which served as his mausoleum, along with being his mother’s tomb. This building boasts of a unique architectural style which is a combination of Indo-Islamic, Persian and Char Bagh styles. Silver throne, golden dome and beautifully decorated mirrors increase the beauty of this place to a large extent. Interiors of the monument are artistically designed with elegant art work and exquisite Arabic calligraphy. During the Muharram festival, this monument is lit up beautifully and looks magnificent during the night time. A view of this dazzling structure is sure to mesmerize its visitors who come here in huge numbers from near and far.
Activities: From the Sat-khanda, travelers can indulge in lunar observation. In addition, tourists can also enjoy the scenic surroundings of the Char Bagh. This monument, along with its garden, has remained as one of the best maintained structures. The gardens are always adorned with blooming flowers and lush greenery.
