Location: Mani Lhakhang Stupa is one of the most important attractions that lie in the city of McLeodganj.
Description: Constructed in the year 2001, Mani Lhakhang Stupa is believed to be a holy place for the followers of Buddhist religion. Alternatively called as Prayer Wheel Stupa, this monument was built under the supervision of an Avalokiteshwara, Jamgn Kongtrul Rinpoche. This is one of the five stupas that were built to ward off natural calamities and threats. Construction of these five stupas was ordered by Dalai Lama. This place attracts the attention of tourists and devotees, alike. Spinning the prayer wheels are believed to bring good luck; therefore tourists indulge in this exercise. Inside the sanctum, visitors can see a huge statue of Lord Buddha which is made out of gold. A visit to this stupa during the evening prayers can be a beautiful experience as the chanting of the lord’s name makes the ambiance more sacred. The hymns which are sung in the praise of Buddha can leave a person spell bound.
