Varasidi Vinayakar Temple

Considered as one of the revered religious places, the famous Hindu temple Varasidi Vinayakar temple is situated near a beach in Besant Nagar. Dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the Hindu god, various prayers are held here at regular intervals. Various other deities who are worshiped here are Sri Sathyanarayana Perumal, Lord Muruga, Lord Dakshinamurthy, Nagaraja and Gajakesari Lalithambikai.

Before 1979, an idol of the Lord was worshipped at a site that lies opposite to the present temple. In the main shrine, idol of Valampuri Varasiddhi Vinayakar can be seen with Consort Siddhi in his left hand. Over this statue, a small idol of Lord Ganesha can be seen. This is the original statue of the lord that was worshiped.

During Vinayakar Chaturthi, a music program is conducted in the auditorium of the temple. Regarded as a notable attraction, the Varasidi Vinayakar temple always remains on the must see list of attractions of the tourists.
