Located in dynamic and vibrant market place, Koyambedu, St. Peters and St. Paul Orthodox Chapel is one of the oldest churches in Chennai that was built in the year 1858. This church is situated at an area that is well known for Karnataka War that was fought against the British by Tipu Sultan.
This church is now under the management of (CSI) Church of South India, Madras Diocese. Before the chapel was built, different services that used to take place in the church were held at Anna Nagar Ladies Club. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays special prayers are held which are performed in English as well as in Malayalam language.
A visit to the largest wholesale market of Chennai, which is Periyar Vegetable Market, can also be planned as it lies at a small distance from the chapel. Tourists can hire a cab or take a bus from any part of the city to reach this chapel.
