Luz Church (Church of Our Lady of Light) is situated in a small nook of Mylapore in Chennai. The Church was built in the 16th century by a clergy from Portugal as a tribute to Mother Mary. Luz Church (Church of Our Lady of Light) is considered to be the first church of its type built as a tribute to ‘Our Lady of Light’. This church is said to be of historic importance and has stood strong despite the beatings of time; different rulers from time to time occupied it for short periods.
