Ananthaa Padmanabha Swaamy Temple, Tamil Nadu

Ananthaa Padmanabha Swaamy Temple

This is a temple which has been built following the same plan as that for the Ananthaa Padmanabha Swaamy Temple at Trivandrum. The temple has an idol of Lord Vishnu with the snake Adisesha acting as a bodyguard of the lord, as snake’s hood covers the lord’s head. With his right hand lord Vishnu is worshipping Shiva lingam. From the navel of the lord springs a lotus stem with a flower, on which lord Brahma is seated. The main feature of this idol is that the three gods are seen in one statue, which is a very rare sight. In Hindu mythology they are referred to as Tridev. There are three doors from where devotees can see the statue. This temple was built in the last century and is considered of great religious importance. Devotees from various regions of Tamil Nadu and rest of India visit this temple and offer prayers there.
