The MGR film city was established in 1994 in the remembrance of MG Ramachandran, who was a popular film actor and former chief minister of Tamilnadu. This film city is the undertaking of government of Tamilnadu. This is a huge property which covers a 70 acre area and is a famous tourist spot. It is also the setting of various south Indian movies.
