The Christ Church

Location: The Christ Church has a fascinating history and it is one of the most revered sites in Munnar.

Description: Christ church was constructed in the year 1910 by the British. Devotees visit Christ Church in huge numbers to pray in its pious ambiance and receive the blessings of God. Every year, a number of tourists visit Christ Church thus putting it among the most frequently visited sites in the Munnar region. Christ Church is a shrine open to everyone and providing a rare glimpse of the medieval history. The church was built with rough-hewn granite and the interiors are adorned with colorful window glasses depicting the saints. Brass plaques kept in the church in the memory of British tea planters enhance its significance even more. Affiliated to Church Missionary Society, this church has a great collection of religious books and artifacts. The exterior of this church with un-plastered walls is as nice as its interior. Pews made from rosewood and an ornate chandelier placed in the church exhibit the early British architecture style. In the year 1981, British left Munnar and handed over the charge of Church to North Kerala Diocese.
