The mountainous terrain, amidst the grasslands of the Western Ghats at Munnar, sheltered by the thick evergreen canopy of the Periyar Tiger reserve is a great site for camping. The abundant variety of birds, animals and plants make this place a bio-diversity hotspot.
The forest department has made very convenient arrangements for trekking in the Eravikulam National Park and in its surroundings, including Anamudy and in the dense forests of the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary.
