Top Station

Top Station is 41 km from Munnar, and is appropriately named, being the main abode of the highest tea plantations of India. It takes one hour to reach the Top Station from Munnar and it lies at an altitude of 1700 meters.

Sharing borders with both the states of Kerala and Tamilnadu, Top Station lies in the Theni district of Tamil Nadu and Idukki district of Kerala, dictating an absolute panoramic view of the surrounding areas.

This area is famous all over the world for the bloom of the exceptional flowers of Neelakurinji. Neelakurinji blooms once in 12 years, making a riot of purple-blue hues across the land and adding an intoxicating fragrance to the tea plantations. It last time bloomed in the year 2006.

Transportation to Top Station is easy as buses are available frequently from Munnar. Visiting Top station between June to October is not advised as the roads become slippery.
