Situated at an altitude of 1700m above the sea level, the Mattupetty dam is approximately 13 km from Munnar and is very famous for its Indo-Swiss live stock projects. The dam is the perfect spot to see numerous ranges of high yielding cattle being nurtured.
Close to the Dam is a beautiful lake, a well-known tourist spot offering boating facilities. The tourists are permitted to see three out of the eleven cattle sheds at the farm. The Mattupetti dam and lake, both, lie in close proximity to the farm and make for a very charming picnic spot.
