Location: Prakasam Barrage was constructed across Krishna River and is one of the most visited tourist destinations in Vijayawada.

Description: The construction of Prakasam Barrage, the total length of which is about 1223.5 meter, was completed in 1957. This Barrage was named after the first chief minister of Andhra Pradesh, Sri Tanguturi Prakasam. This Barrage helps to irrigate more than 1.2 million acres of land of the region. The flourishing agriculture industry of this region is mainly credited to the Barrage as it is responsible for serving large acres of agriculture land. Water to the Buckingham canal is also supplied through this Barrage. The imposing structure of Prakasam Barrage also serves as a road bridge and spreads over the beautiful lake. Over the years, this place has emerged as a picnic spot which is thronged by local residents and tourists alike. From the dam, tourists can get a spectacular view of the lake.
