The gumbaz is the burial section where Tipu sultan, along with father Haider Ali and mother Fatima Begum, was buried. The chamber has been built on an elevated platform, which is further surrounded by tombs of his nobles and other relatives.
The doors have been made out of ebony and are well decorated with ivory presented by Lord Dalhousie. Lacquer tiger strips, which were believed to be Tipu’s favorites, have been used to cover interior walls.
The chamber of Gumbaz has been walled by black amphibole. Gumbaz has a Masjid-e-Aksa, a mosque situated beside it and it is surrounded by garden, which enhances its beauty even further.
