Sita Gufaa, Maharashtra

Sita Gufaa

The Sita Gufaa is the place, where according to history Sita was kidnapped by the demon king Ravana. The literal connotation of Gufaa is a cave and it is located at the west side door of the Kalaram Temple. The temple consists of the premises which hold five Banyan trees and therefore this place is named as Panchavati.

The cave also has idols of Lord Ram, Sita and Lakshmana. You can enter the cave only through the help of a narrow staircase. Another significant feature of this location is the presence of the Shivlinga in the temple, which is believed to be the same idol which was worshipped by Sita.
