Mangalagiri , Mangla means auspicious and Giri means hill; thus Mangalagiri is a pure, auspicious and holy hill to visit which falls on the Vijayawada – Guntur road and is mounted in the shape of an elephant.

 

The major attraction of this place is the Sri Panakala Narasimhaswamy temple, which has been beautified by a crown on its top. The main idol worshipped in the temple is Narasimhaswamy one of the manifestations of Lord Vishnu. The Narasimhaswamy temple is considered among top eight sacred temples, called the Mahakshetrams, in India.

This hillock also has another holy temple of Lakshmi Narasimha located on it. The biggest and most popular Jain community temple, Hinkar Tirtha also lies within this region. The Mangalagiri hills are surrounded with wide spread greenery and charming beauty all around it.
