A historically important site of Pune, the Aga Khan Palace holds a significant position in the history of the independence movement of India. It is believed that this is the same place where many freedom fighters of India were kept under arrest. This palace has a history of having the privilege of housing great freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi, along with Mahadevbhai Desai, during their imprisonment in 1942, in the midst of the Quit India Movement.
This palace is also home to the marble memorials in honour of Mahadevbhai Desai and Kasturba Gandhi. Visiting this palace is surely a great way to pay homage to the sacrifices of the great freedom fighters of India.
