Manjushri Lha-Khang, Alchi

Location: Manjushri Lha-Khang is situated near Lotsava La-khang in Alchi village of district Leh. This temple is also called Jample Lhakhang and it was constructed in the 12th century.

Description: This shrine serves as a house for images of Manjushri, a noted Bodhisattva. The paintings of this temple follow a theme of thousand Buddhas. Guardians and Goddesses are found throughout the wall space. Paintings that are present in this temple present a snapshot of the artistic talent of the people of that time. Manjushri Lha-Khang, It being an ancient temple, symbolizes ancient culture, tradition and values. Surrounding area of this place is picturesque and attracts quite a number of people. This temple comes under the category of special attraction, as far as village Alchi is concerned. Alchi is a well known tourist place and is easily reachable from Leh.
