Location: Basgo Monastery is a Buddhist monastery positioned in Ladakh division of Jammu and Kashmir State. It is situated at a distance of around 40 kilometers from Leh.
Description: Basgo was a royal place in the ancient period and the kings of Namgyal dynasty ruled from this place. The monastery is located on the top of a hill and offers great view of the surrounding area. This monastery was constructed in the year 1680. The Buddha statue that is housed in this monastery is quite popular. This monastery also comprises of murals and arts of the 16th century. The entire area appears as a structure of clay that has been washed away by rains. As the rainfall in Ladakh is not heavy, this place has successfully survived for a long time. The monastery is positioned in a picturesque location and has immense historical significance attached to it. Due to its magnificent clay structure, it is considered like a jewel in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir State.
