Location: The Tso Moriri Lake is located in Changthang area and it is about 240 kilometers away from Leh district in state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Description: The Tso Moriri Lake is located at an altitude of 4,595 m in Ladakh region. The blue water and lush landscapes enhance the beauty of this serene Lake. It takes about six hours from Leh district to reach this place. This beautiful lake is surrounded by lofty snow covered mountains and green grasslands. Korzok monastery, which is very popular, is located on the bank of this lake and thus attracts a number of visitors from all over the world every year. The wildlife sanctuary of Tso Moriri Lake also makes it popular globally and this surely compels tourists to include it in their vacation plan. The wildlife present here includes migrating birds, like black-necked cranes, bar-headed geese and crested grebes. To visit this wildlife sanctuary, tourists first need to take permission from the local Deputy Commissioner’s office. Camping is a great adventure, which visitors can enjoy, but as this place is restricted by Tso Moriri Wetland Conservation Reserve, tourists have to pitch their camps in Korzok which is not very far from this Lake.
Activities: On the way to Tso Moriri Lake, tourists may also enjoy a visit to Chumathang Hot springs, the water of which is rich in sulphur and considered to have therapeutic properties.
