Drang-Drung Glacier , Zanskar

Location: Drang-Drung Glacier is located in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, across the valley of Suru. It is positioned at Pansi La, also called Pensi Pass, in the Ladakh region.

Description: Basicallya long rivercomprising of snow and ice, this glacier provides a great view of Kargil and the Himalayan belt. It is considered as one of the largest glaciers in the Ladakh region. The view surrounding this place is equally enchanting as it is surrounded by peaks that are covered with snow and two small alpine lakes. This glacier also offers a sight of the famous river Doda, which is a beautiful place in the Jammu region and is famous for a number of crops and cereals. This part of the region is accessible during the months of May till September, as in other months the road leading to Drang-Drung Glacier’s head is closed due to snowfall. The best time to visit this glacier is from July till August.

Activities: The glacier provides ample eye-catching sights for witnessing the natural beauty of this region and tourists can capture this beauty in their camera lens. Reaching on top of this glacier gives you a feeling as if you are on the top of the world and that moment is really enthralling.
