Ratnadurg Fort, Maharashtra

Ratnadurg Fort

Ratnadurga Fort is encircled by the pleasant and fascinating Arabian Sea from three sides. Due to this, the fort gives a magnificent appearance. This huge structure is in the shape of a horseshoe, and has a length of 1,300 meters and a width of 1,000 meters. Ratnadurga Fort, in earlier times, was under the rule of the Maratha Empire.

This is spread over a vast area of 120 acres. For many years, Muslim community ruled over the Ratnadurga Fort. Now a collapsed structure, lying across two hills, Ratnadurga Fort gives a decrepit look.

Overlooking the Arabian Sea, Ratnadurga Fort offers a dazzling view of the sun going down the sea and the sweet sound of the pounding of the waves against the rocks makes a perfect symphony. Another attractive place of the fort is the glorious lighthouse, placed in the bastions of the fort.

This fort has witnessed many years of glory and situated on the coastal line of the Konkan region, it is a perfect place to get away from the bindings of the city life.
