Shani Shingnapur, Maharashtra

Shani Shingnapur

This village is at a distance of about 65 km from Shirdi. As per the belief of the villagers, Lord Shaneshwara protects them from all evils, be it burglary and robbery and thus they do not have doors in their houses.

Here is a large statue of Lord Shaneshwara and it is made of black sandstone. Only male devotees are allowed in this temple. They have to take bath in the public bathrooms. Then they have to pray in wet clothes, called dhotis and they are not allowed to wear any item of clothing at the upper part of their body. The visiting time at the temple is from 5 am to 10pm.
