Location: Abode of countless deities, Shimla is also famous for its most revered site, Hanuman Temple. It is about 5 km away from Shimla and located in Tara Devi on Kalka-Shimla Highway.
Description: Hanuman Temple is famous among locales as Sankat Mochan Temple. The presiding deity of the temple is Lord Hanuman, called as Sankat Mochan, which signifies the deity who relieves from all troubles. In the year 1950, Baba Neeb Karori came to this place and was astonished to see the site surrounded by emerald meadows and lofty mountains in the background. He stayed in a small hut here for nine days and expressed his desire to erect a Hanuman Temple at this serene spot. Since its inception on 21st June, 1966, the shrine is frequently flocked by a large number of devotees every year. As per Hindu rituals, the first small shrine is dedicated to Ganesha, where you can worship all forms of Lord Ganesha, made in black stone. The complex comprises of various small and big shrines, including Lord Shiva Temple, Navagraha Temple, and Baba Need Karori Ji Maharaj Temple. The temple can easily be accessed by road and common means of transport like buses.
Activities: This is a great place to worship in tranquil environs.Especially during Navratri, the temple remains busy with devotees for complete nine days.
