A beautiful tourist destination located in the calm hills of Darjeeling, Mirik boasts of a number of attractions and one of them is the Mirik Lake. Also known as Sumendu Lake, this is the most appealing spot of the city. This lake is surrounded by pine trees on one side and by a lush green garden on the other side. Indreni pull, also called as Rainbow Bridge, links both sides of the lake.
Marvelous view of the majestic mount Kanchenjunga forms the backdrop of this manmade lake with the chestnut, maple and oak trees adding beauty to the view. A walk around the lake can be a delightful experience for the visitors.
Swimming is prohibited in this lake but there are plenty of other activities that tourists can enjoy here. Children can enjoy horse riding and boating in a shikara at this beautiful place while adults can indulge in fishing.
