Location: Spread over an area of 70 sq km, Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the beautiful city of Visakhapatnam.
Description: Kambalakonda Wildlife Sanctuary was established with an aim of preserving the wildlife of the area. Until 1970, the land was under the control of Maharaja of Vizianagaram. However after 10th March 1970, this sanctuary came under the control of forest department of Andhra Pradesh. This sanctuary is a dry evergreen forest mixed with meadows and scrubs. The diversified flora and fauna of the sanctuary represents the Eastern Ghats. Endangered Indian leopard is among various other animals which live in their natural habitat in this park. At this wildlife sanctuary, visitors can easily spot Indian cobra, jackal, Asian paradise flycatcher, Russell’s viper and Indian Muntjac. Some of the popular plants which can be found in the region are Tectona Grandis, Catunaregam Spinosa, Grewia Tiliafolia and Abrus Precatorius.
