Pathar Sahib Gurdwara

Location: Located at a distance of 23 km from Leh, Pathar Sahib Gurudwara holds special significance amongst the Sikh community. This sacred shrine can be reached easily, as it lies on the Leh-Kargil road.

Description: According to legends, it is believed to be the place where a wicked demon planned to hurt Guru Nanak Dev ji. The demon pushed a huge boulder from the top of the hill, however after touching Guru Ji’s body, it became soft and then the demon realized his mistake. After this incident, the demon became a changed man and he stopped harassing the local residents. The rock, which turned into wax, is still preserved in the Gurudwara and in the city Guru Nanak Dev ji is known as Nanak Lama. This happened in the year 1517 and later on in 1970’s a Gurudwara was constructed here which is now maintained by Indian army. People from all over the country visit this Gurudwara and pay their obeisance to the first Sikh guru.

Activities: After offering their prayers at this Gurudwara and taking the Prasad, distributed to everybody who visits this holy Gurudwara, tourists can continue their journey to Leh. This sacred shrine is present amidst beautiful surroundings, which attracts the attention of photography lovers.
