Description: Leh place is one of the majestic palaces enhancing the charm of Leh. This palace was built by King Sengge Namgyal in the seventeenth century during the Namgyal dynasty. Made of stones, mud, wood and sand, this palace was known to be one of the tallest buildings in the past and now it is used for displaying old paintings and photographs of Leh district. Although, it has been a long time since this historic monument was made, but it is still standing with the same glory and grabs a lot of tourist’s attention every year due to its attractive view. The Leh Palace model resembles a lot to the Potala place which is located in Lhasa. It is a nine storey high building with small and big rooms and corridors. The victory tower is built at the top of the palace which is dedicated to the valiant Ladakhi soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the early sixteenth century battles. The palace has been renovated by the Government Archaeological Conservation Organization and it has added more charm to the beauty of Leh Palace.
