An imposing amalgamation of tradition and intricately carved details, Akshardham is situated in Gandhinagar. The temple is dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan. This beautiful monument, spread over an area of 23 acre, is made of pink colored sandstone and is known to be a perfect depiction of spiritual tranquility, which makes this structure so incredible.
It was architected under the surveillance of Maharaj Pramukh Swami, who is known as the spiritual leader of BAPS Sanstha. With 40 windows along with 93 chiseled pillars, it is carved with a feast of filigrees on both sides. Moreover, the most amazing fact about this temple is that not even a single steel rod is used in its construction.
Akshardham enshrines a unique golden statue of Lord Swaminarayan including three exhibition halls which uphold the universal principles of humankind and opulence of Indian Culture.This holy shrine is acknowledged as the center of excellence in the field of education and witnesses a huge influx of tourists from all over the world.
