Readily known as Kankaria Zoo, established around 1951 is the Kamla Nehru Zoo. Situated on the imposing banks of beautiful Kankaria Lake, the garden is designed by a great artist Reuben David.
Covering over 117 acres of land, the region engulfs endangered species namely Indian Wild Ass, Asiatic Lion, Flamingos and Mouse Deer. It is well known for its enduring natural habitat, reptiles and albino animals. In addition to this, the zoo has a museum which has marvelous imprints of distinct birds and animals with which one can familiarize himself. The zoo focuses basically on the recreation and conservation of endangered species, so as to save them from being extinct.
