Location: Located in the heart of Srinagar city, Imambara Hassanabad is well-known as the second oldest shrine in the world.  It is near to Lal Chowk about 2.6 km away from Srinagar.

Description: Imambara Hassanabad is one of the most revered religious sites in India and frequently visited by millions of devotees all through the year, mainly by Shia Muslims. Dating back to 15th century, the majestic structure reflects the Indo-Iranian style of architecture. According to some natives of Kashmir, the shrine was built in the year 1857. Built in octagonal shape, the exteriors of this shrine colored with a blend of red and green hues enhance its magnificence. History admirers and religiously inclined people must visit this holy shrine notable for its Papier-mâché ceiling and relics of a mosque. Along with the mosque, you may visit Baba Mazar graveyard, which enshrines the graves of famous Muslim personalities, including Marsia “Hab Saheb Mullah”, Baba Ali and Syed Mirza Shah. Transport services are easily available to reach this sacred place.

Activities: Located in the surroundings of the shrine are the famous Hazratbal Mosque, Chatti Patshahi Gurudwara and Maa Sharda Devi Temple, so you may extend your tour and visit these attractions as well.
