Dastgir Sahib Shrine

Location: One of the spectacular Sufi shrines in India, Dastgir Sahib Shrine is located in Khaniyar, a gorgeous valley of Jammu and Kashmir.

Description: About 200 year old shrine, Dastgir Sahib is dedicated to Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jelani, also renowned as Gous E Azam.  Although, Gous E Azam never stayed here, the mosque is still popular among tourists. Religiously inclined people, as well as history buffs, frequently visit this Dargah to pay homage to the saint. The shrine looks glorious from all directions. White and green interiors, along with superb exteriors, leave the visitors astonished. A piece of hair of Gous E Azam and Quran inscriptions by Hazrat Abu Bakr Sidiqqi R.A, are some of the major attractions of this Sufi shrine. Its construction started in the year 1806 and set out to be a marvelous structure when expanded by Khwaja Sanaullah Shawl in the year 1877. You can take snap shots of Arabic scriptures and floral motifs in this shrine but in the presence of attendants.

Activities: The death anniversary of Gous E Azam is held at Dastgir Sahib. The death anniversary of a Sufi is regarded as Wisaal and celebrated with huge pomp and fervor. Besides this, shopping lovers have a great chance to indulge in shopping in a huge supermarket surrounding the region of Khaniyar.
