Nechung Monastery has a history that dates back to centuries and this monastery has a great importance in Tibetan history and Buddhist religion. Tibetan Government in exile had granted a small piece of land to Nechung monastery just below a library and a monk’s residence, a school and a temple were built on this land. The construction work started in 1977 and was completed by 1984. This monastery is considered as the seat of the State Oracle of Tibet and is positioned in Gangchen Kyishong just beneath the Tibetan library and is considered as a major attraction in Mcleodganj. Near the bus stand of Mcleodganj is Tsuglagkhang Complex and Nechung Monastery is a part of that and you can easily reach this monastery by hiring a taxi or boarding a bus. Buddhists from all over Dharamsala visit this monastery because of the religious importance that is associated with monastery.
