This place has acquired its name after the brave Army Officer Captain Saurabh Kalia; who laid down his life in the Kargil war of 1999. Saurabh Van Vihar is located in Neugal, Palampur. The Vihar has been established in order to enable the tourists to enjoy the nature and develop awareness in them with regards to nature and environment. This Vihar is spread over an area of 13 hectares. Saurabh Van Vihar is enclosed by beautiful and scenic Dhauladhar ranges towards the north and north-east directions. The Himachal Pradesh forest department is responsible for the management of this Van Vihar and they manage it with the help of a society, called “Saurabh Van Vihar Management Society, Palampur”. The Vihar has a wide range of attractions like a number of species of herbs, Tiger Hill Bridge and tree, Bamboosetum, open air theatre, health trails, water bodies, Children Park, picnic sheds and many more.
