Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts, Mcleodganj can be reached from Mcleodganj on foot in fifteen minutes time. This place is considered the home of Ihamo, a special Folk opera of Tibet that is attractive and colorful. TIPA has preserved an extensive collection of dance and music, including theatrical traditions of Tibet. This institute has its own workshop for manufacturing musical instruments, masks and costumes and also has a Modern Theater Troupe, which shows present day art. An annual ten day folk opera is also organized by this institution which starts in the month of April on second Saturday. This occasion witnesses presentations of different types of folk operas, concerts, plays and dance performances. In addition to these, on national holidays performances of other type are also organized. Nearest attraction to this place is the Buddha temple. Lovers of art, culture and music visit this Institute to attend various functions representing art and culture of this region.
