Kangra fort is a huge structure that is located 20 kilometers away from Dharamsala and at a distance of 3 kilometers from Kangra. This big fort was built by the royal family of Kangra. Kangra fort is one of the oldest and biggest forts in India and it also finds mention in the war records of ‘Alexander the Great’. This fort has a history of being ruled by various foreign rulers, who invaded India, like Mohammad Bin Tughlak and Mohammad Ghaznavi. At the end, it was captured by Jahangir an Emperor of the Mughal dynasty, who defended this fort with his troops. The major attraction of this fort is the charming view of the effusive streams of Manjhi and Banganga rivers from this place. Nagarkot is another name given to this fort and tourists are supposed to pass through seven gates in order to visit the three temples that are located inside.
