Description: Dedicated to Goddess Durga,Jhula Devi Temple is said to be constructed during 8th century. According to legends, once Goddess Durga appeared in a shepherd’s dream and advised him to excavate a site. During excavation, an idol of goddess Durga came out from that place. The idol of the Hindu deity is installed at the same place from where it was found. Then this beautiful and wonderfully carved temple was built. Since then, Hindu pilgrims come to pay homage to Goddess Jhula Devi and hope that all their wishes will come true. Once their wish is fulfilled they come back and hang a bell to the temple walls. From the huge number of bells in the temple, one can assume the divinity of Goddess Durga worshipped in the Jhula Devi Temple. The idol of Goddess Durga is placed on a wooden swing, in Hindi known as “Jhula”, and that is how the temple got the name Jhula Devi Temple.
Activities: Jhula Devi Temple is a divine place where you can hear chiming of thousands of bells at a time. The temple and its surroundings offer a picturesque view of far-flung mountainous areas.
