Situated between the famous Sukhna Lake and the divinely gorgeous Rose Garden is the beautiful Smriti Upavan. Its name characterizes its meaning, where the word Smriti means “remembrance” whereas the term Upavan means “forest”. The park was created in the year 1988, with a view to plant a tree for the deceased spirits.
It forms a special place in the heart of the people because of its charm and utter silence that connects you with your loved ones. The first plant was a banyan tree which was planted in the fond memory of Late Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru by the then counselor Mr. Ashok Pradhan. The main attraction of this garden, which makes it unique amidst the other beauties in the city, is that even a common man is allowed to plant a tree as a commemoration for its beloved.
The actual beauty of the garden lies in its trees and vegetation and the tranquility which makes it seem like a paradise.
