The Sikh culture is undoubtedly one of the most vibrant cultures of India and the art forms which are an intrinsic part of this culture are a testament to this vibrancy. Also known as the office of Punjab Lalit Kala Academy, the Punjab Kala Kendra, situated in Sector – 16, Chandigarh is an institution which is committed to promoting as well as educating visitors about the various arts which are a part of Punjabi culture. This academy hosts a large number of exhibitions of various art forms, including folk singing, dances like Bhangra and Giddha, as well as community theatre thanks to the open air auditorium which is located here. The academy also hosts a large number of exhibitions of up and coming artistic talent from within Punjab, so that they can earn the kind of exposure they should. Young artists are especially encouraged so that they can carry forward the traditions of their culture embedded in these arts.
