A sanctuary for many migratory birds and a man made beauty in the foothills of Shivalik is the idyllic Sukhna Lake. It was designed to offer tourists and local people a tranquil place to interact with nature and to make them understand the importance of ‘care of mind and spirit’.
The attraction of this lake has only extended with time, thus making it an ideal location for enjoying boating, water skiing, yachting and many such water sports. In addition to this, it has served as a site for the Asian Rowing championship and is believed to have the largest channel for yachting and rowing in Asia, thus extending its significance even more.
This small rain fed water body was created in 1958 and has been affirmed as thenational wetland by the Government of India. You can see huge scores of tourists and local people, especially in summers, jogging along its pathway to enjoy the fresh air.
