Situated 14 kilometers from Tirupati, Sri Prasanna Venkateswaraswami Temple in Appalayagunta is said to be the place where Lord Venkateswera took rest during his voyage to Tirumala. This legendary place is also believed to be the spot where the lord blessed Sri Siddeswara and other sages after marrying Sri Padmavathi Ammavaru.
The main deity in the temple is famous for having a joyous mood and the idol is considered to be a self-manifested vigraha or home. A large number of pilgrims participate in the Abhishekam ceremony on Fridays owing to the belief that doing so would fulfill all their dreams.
Apart from the main shrine of Venkateswara, the temple premises also house a shrine for Anjaneyaswami, Goddess Padmavathi and Sri Andal. The beautiful shrine is said to have been constructed under the patronage of the Rajas of Karvetinagar and the devotees suffering from unceasing ailments greatly believe in the healing powers of the impressive deity of the wind-god.
