Usually crowded with pilgrims, a famous religious destination in Haridwar is the renowned Kushavarta Ghat. The legends say that the Ghat is associated with an ancient saint Lord Dattatreya, who is believed to have spent a significant period of his life here. Dattatreya meditated for thousands of years, by standing on one foot to offer his prayers and thank Lord Vishnu.
However, the major construction was inaugurated under the supervision of a Maratha queen, late Ahilya Bai Holkar. Beautifully carved and sculptured, the Ghat still maintains its charm. Due to which, the place finds a special place among local people and tourists. The Ghat represents a perfect picture of the ritualistic tradition of the gone by era. One can always see a huge influx of people, who come here to offer solace to the spirited souls, which is often called as Shraddha ceremony. Positioned around 0.5km from the renowned Har-ki-Pauri, one can easily reach by means of local transport.
