Boasting of a rich tradition and ethnicity, the Sri Chennakesavaswami temple dates back to 1000 years. This temple is situated in a highly revered place; the birthplace of Sri Annamacharya. According to some legends, the temple was constructed and administered by the Matti Rajas.
The temple premises hold numerous sub temples, like the Sri Gopalaswami Sameta Chakrathalwar temple, Chennakesavaswami Sameta temple, Sri Kamaksh and the Sri Siddeswaraswami temple.
A variety of festivals like the Brahmotsavam, Annamacharya Jayanthi and Vardhanti Utsavams are celebrated at this temple with much pomp, pride and grand ceremonies.
