Location: Tiruchendur Temple is situated on a small hamlet of Thiruchendur that lies in the north eastern side of Kanyakumari, at a distance of around 75 km. Well connected by road, this is a must visit pilgrim place.

Description: India is famous for a large number of temples and monuments. Symbolizing rich heritage of the country, Tiruchendur temple is dedicated to Lord Muruga. Located on a hill top, this temple gives a panoramic view of the city. According to mythology, this is a place where after defeating Soorapadma, a demon, Lord Muruga prayed to Lord Shiva. A unique style of architecture is seen in this shrine as the Rajagopuram of the temple is constructed to the west rather than the east. A stone inscription that dates back to 9th century, tells about the origin of the temple while the idol of the deity is installed in Maha Mandapam.

Activities: Various attractions, such as Arumugar, Theerthas, Pancha Lingam, Valli Cave Temple and many more are present in the Tiruchendur temple. Religiously inclined travelers as well as those people who have interest in photography visit this temple.
