Location: Tiruchendur Temple is situated on a small hamlet of Thiruchendur that lies in the north eastern side of Kanyakumari, at a distance of around 75 km. Well connected by road, this is a must visit pilgrim place.

Located on a hill top, this temple gives a panoramic view of the city. According to mythology, this is a place where after defeating Soorapadma, a demon, Lord Muruga prayed to Lord Shiva. A unique style of architecture is seen in this shrine as the Rajagopuram of the temple is constructed to the west rather than the east. A stone inscription that dates back to 9th century, tells about the origin of the temple while the idol of the deity is installed in Maha Mandapam.
