Location: Located at a distance of 43 km from the city of Nagercoil in Indian state of Kanyakumari, Pechiparai Reservoir is an exquisitely designed dam.
Description: Constructed across river Kodayan by Mr. Minchin, a European engineer, this reservoir was built in 1906. Spread over an area of 207 km2, this dam was built with a budget of Rs. 26 lakhs to supply water to the urban areas. Water from this dam is used for a number of purposes, which include irrigating the fields and for human consumption as well. A perfect place to enjoy with one’s family or friends, this dam has gained popularity as a picnic spot. Surrounded by the well known hills of Western Ghats, this place offers a marvelous view of the city.
