Description: Eglise de Notre Dame Des Anges Church means “The Church of Our Lady of Angels”. The Church is very famous for its stonework all over the world. The masonry is done using the finest of limestone, mixed with white part of the egg, giving it a texture which looks very similar to white marble. The Cathedral is named in the honor of Blessed Virgin Mary under the patronal title of Our Lady of the Angels. On a visit to Pondicherry, tourists must visit this beautiful Cathedral. The statue of Our Lady with infant Jesus in her arms is wonderful. The Cathedral is rich in beauty, whether it’s the design, architecture or embellishments. One can still see the rare oil painting of Our Lady of Assumption presented to the church by famous French Emperor Napoleon III. Tourists can also see the marble statue of heroic French damsel Joan of Arc, a great example of French influence.
