Talacauvery (or TalaKaveri, as it is also known) is situated near the Brahmagiri Hill (not the Brahmagiri Hill Range) nearly 8 km away from Bhagamandala and 48 km away from Madikeri, in the district of Kodagu in the state of Karnataka. This place, located approximately 1276 meters above sea level is also popularly known as the point of origin of Cauvery River. Tourists visiting this place will also be pleased to know that Talacauvery is also a major pilgrimage center. There is a tank (locally known as a Kundike) which has been constructed into the side of the hill wherein the river is said to originate in the form of a spring. A large number of devotees come here on certain festivals to bathe in this tank. The water in this tank is fed in via a spring which then flows underground for a distance before emerging as the Cauvery River.
