Iruppu Waterfalls, Karnataka

Iruppu Waterfalls

The Iruppu Falls are also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, as they form the point of origin of the Lakshmana Tirtha River, and are found in the Kodagu district in the state of Karnataka. This fresh water waterfall is less than 50 km away from Virajpet while travelling to Nagarhole via the highway and 120 km away from the city of Mysore, where the nearest airport is located. Tourists can also visit the Rameshwara Temple on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River which is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva while they make their journey to the Iruppu Falls. Tourists can also see a great deal of festivity when a large number of devotees come to visit this temple on the festive occasion of Shivratri. Tourists who are planning on visiting the Iruppu Falls should do so in the monsoon since in these months tourists can see the falls in all their majesty.
